Email Response

A reader recently emailed Dragonfly and inquired about Blitz 2, this is their response:

Dear Kevin

First of all, thank you for your interest in our game and let me answer your questions.

Blitz1941 that was serviced in Haname is closed since last 20 December 2007 so that unfortunately you can’t play anymore.

At the present, we are developing the Blitz 2 that takes over Blitz1941’s good point and makes up for its weak points. Please wait a moment at great inconvenience.

For reference, even if you join the Korean Blitz2 homepage (http://www.blitz2.co.kr/), you can’t play the game at the present.

In addition, it isn’t decided yet whether we service in only Korea or worldwide.

We’ll do our best to service the game with good quality as much as many players in domestic and worldwide wait as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Hat tip to Kevin for the email.

I designed and implemented cores of Blitz 1941. (Yeah! the heavyweight fires, explosions, tanks and many BUGS from my hands!) Unhopefully, I left Mowelsoft in late 2005 and the design director also left in 2006. So I guess that sequel will give the gamers another completely different experiences. (of course, much better!)

Mowelsoft is acquired by Dragonfly and Blitz 2 project is passed to Dragonfly. I hope they make another great job soon!

It it a honor to me since I've known that Blitz 1941 was loved by many people. Your passion encourage me to make another massive and heavyweight battle game! (Unfortunately not now)

I still have the client of Blitz 1941 somewhere, do you have a server installer by any chance? :)
Nothing can be found of Blitz 1941, so basically Mowelsoft or Dragonfly can't have anything against that, right?

Any clue that could lead to obtaining the server files would be appreciated!!
Or maybe if you still know some Mowelsoft people who could get their hands on it... ;)

Hyunjik,

I never thought a developer would find this page but thanks for your work on the game, it was really one of the best games I've ever played, it led me to make this page! :)

Kevin
I think not.
Even if Blitz 1941 is closed, the ownership and copyright (as well as the server program) is EXCLUSIVELY owned by Dragonfly. Dragonfly won't allow any users to launch the server.
The total cost of developing Blitz 1941 was about $500,000. (Many say it was tremendously cheap) They aren't charitable workers.

Hyunjik,

Thanks for posting and giving us some insite into how all of this works. Those of us not in Korea, really want to play Blitz again, some of us even found ways to play on the Korean server ;). We all miss the fun that was the Blitz game play. We all thank you for the work you did in developing such a great game!

I am VERY hungry developing another massive combat game. I have the qualified experiences, and my own business which gains stable revenue.

But there is one obstacle: "market".
I've got hurt during test services of Blitz 1941 because it attracted only a few gamers in Korea.
If there are many cues the potential market of Blitz1941-like games outside Korea (petitions, for example) I will consider developing another massive combat game like Blitz 1941.

PS. Nowadays I have no relationship to Dragonfly nor MowelSoft. (Of course, they know much about me) So contacting them for my issue is discouraged.

I posted a thread regarding to Blitz 1941. See http://imays76.blogspot.com/2008/12/massive-military-combat-game-market.html for more details

ou thought of starting a Forum for all of us to communicate in other than the blog. A forum in which all the old clans can reunite or where we can discuss different things about Blitz? Make it part of your blog? We used to have one for the clan 5th SS Wiking, but it got hacked and destroyed.

I thought about it but do you think there's enough of us to warrant a forum? Also, it could be better to wait for confirmation of a global version, could be futile.

Yeah I think there is enough of us, I still keep in touch with some from my clan.
